Paper Cuts

My very, very lovely friend Sarah Bridgland has a new exhibition at the Collyer Bristow Gallery in London – check out this link for more information…

She creates these wonderful pieces from found ephemera (predominantly paper). I absolutely love them.

See her Flickr for more images… I will be interviewing Sarah soon and finding out more about the way she works, so keep checking back. I can’t wait to see her show this week!

Love. In All Its Many Forms.

This is one of the best public arts projects I have ever seen. Love Letter is a social project in Philadelphia conceived by artist Stephen Powers. In conjunction with the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, they have created a city-wide series of murals that are painted on the walls of buildings facing the Market elevated train. 40 different national and international artists have participated. As well as this, local people were employed to help paint the murals, engaging the community as well as creating these beautiful images.

These are some of my favourites…

I would be honoured to have such a mural on the side of my house!

Read more about the project and see all of the murals here. Which one do you like best? Could you see a project such as this working in your home town or city? What I like best is that it isn’t naff and worthy, the murals are bold and modern and express wonderful sentiments without being slushy and horribly twee. Well done, Philly.
